Qualifications

Required

  • Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
  • Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Successful completion of orientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific unit.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required with leadership qualities.
  • Cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned.
  • Full implementation of the nursing process to include Assessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing.

  • Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive period of time.

  • May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. May require frequent bending, squatting and kneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
