Full Job Description

San Francisco Bay University (SFBU), a small-sized nonprofit, WASC-accredited, university situated in the heart of Silicon Valley in Fremont, California. SFBU is a new and rebranded university currently offering degrees in computer science (BS, MS), electrical engineering (MS), business (BABS/MBA/MSBan/MSDS), and professional educational programs.

The Partnerships and Career Services Coordinator is a proactive and strategic professional responsible for enhancing employment opportunities for SFBU university students and graduates. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs, this role develops and implements strategies to increase job and internship opportunities, maintains strong relationships with employers at regional, state, national, and international levels, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and various university departments. Key responsibilities include creating and executing marketing strategies for corporate and community engagement, managing data and reports on employment trends, and participating in career development programs.

Note: Exempt, full time position, located in Fremont, California. Candidates must reside in the local area or willing to locate.

Salary Range: $67,000 - $77,000

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Employer Relations and Partnerships (35%)

  • Proactively develop and implement strategies designed to increase employment opportunities for university students and graduates.
  • Strategically identify and build relationships with regional, state, national, and international employers for recruitment of university students and alumni.
  • Facilitate relationships between employers and the university community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni association, foundation, etc.
  • Work closely with the internship staff to develop internship opportunities for students.
  • Work closely with the student employment staff to develop part-time job opportunities for students.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the employer advisory board.

2. Marketing and Communications (20%)

  • Work with employers to develop marketing strategies for enhancement of employer presence on campus, which includes, but not limited to: campus recruitment, job postings, internships, career fairs, class/organization presentations, and resume searches.
  • Design and develop employer marketing material, compose content, and coordinate timing of communications to employers.

3. Data Management and Reporting (15%)

  • Compile and report data on employer relations activities, assess employer relations efforts, and provide feedback as to the effectiveness of such efforts.
  • Track job market demand, use of career services, trends in recruiting, job-offer data, and hiring results for students in various academic majors. Report results to NACE, academic deans, and the president.
  • Formulate strategies for achieving greater participation rates for those majors that underuse available career resources.

4. Collaboration and Program Development (15%)

  • Collaborate with faculty/staff to increase employment opportunities for students.
  • Participate in career development programs coordinated by career services, including, but not limited to, workshops, employer seminars, meetings within and outside of career and counseling services, and other special projects of career and counseling services.

5. Professional and Administrative Responsibilities (15%)

  • Participate actively in various local, state, regional, and national organizations such as chambers of commerce, societies of human resource management, NACE, alumni chapters, etc.
  • Provide assistance in budget planning, strategic planning, goal setting, monthly and annual reports, etc.
  • Attend administrative staff meetings.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Represent career and counseling services on campus and in the community as needed.
