The EHS Custodian at Maternity Care Coalition is responsible for cleaning assigned areas of the facility, setting up and breaking down meetings and activities, and performing light maintenance tasks. Responsibilities

  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop the Socialization Room, hallways, and offices.
  • Shampoo carpets as needed. Strip and wax floors as needed.
  • Dust, polish, and wax furniture, and fixtures.
  • Collect trash, wastepaper, and scrap for disposal.
  • Wash windows; wash and hang curtains and blinds as necessary.
  • Set up meetings, and activities as necessary.
  • Bring deliveries to appropriate storage spaces; support staff with lifting, moving furniture, etc.
  • Maintain site inventory for facility supplies such as cleaning supplies.
  • Light maintenance (hanging up items, repairing furniture, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma at minimum.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions.
  • Ability to communicate simple, job-related issues.
  • Ability to use vacuum, rug shampooer, mop, and other common household appliances.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 or more pounds.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a childcare setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Basic ability to troubleshoot and support maintenance issues (hanging things on walls, plumbing, and electrical).

Position Summary

Under general supervision, this position is directly responsible for cleaning assigned areas of the facility and set-up/clean-up for meetings and activities in Montgomery County. This position will work 24 hours per week split between our Norristown and Pottstown Sites. Travel to our South Philadelphia location will be on an as needed basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Understanding of MCC’s mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.

• The position requires the ability to understand and follow basic instructions and to communicate simple, job- related issues.

• Previous experience in a childcare setting preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers and families.

• Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner and follow up and follow through with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to use vacuum, rug shampooer, mop, and other common household appliances.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 or more pounds required.

• Basic ability to troubleshoot and support maintenance issues preferred (hanging things on walls, plumbing, and electrical).

Experience, Education, and Licensure

• High School Diploma at minimum.

• 1-3 years of janitorial experience preferred.
