As the Fleet Manager at A National Transit, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment, ensuring operational excellence and safety. Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the activities and operations of fleet maintenance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain fleet maintenance goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead orientation, training, and evaluation programs for all fleet maintenance personnel.
  • Identify and resolve staff deficiencies, and implement disciplinary procedures as needed.
  • Foster a positive working relationship with team members, including GM and executive staff.
  • Motivate and lead a diverse team, ensuring high levels of performance and morale.
  • Oversee and maintain a computerized maintenance program.
  • Direct the preparation and maintenance of various reports, records, and files related to vehicle inspections, maintenance, repairs, and personnel.
  • Ensure the shop area, equipment, and materials are safe, clean, and orderly.
  • Manage the acquisition, utilization, repair, preventative maintenance, and replacement of all vehicles.
  • Ensure adherence to established safety, training, and quality assurance programs.
  • Participate in the forecast of necessary funds for staffing, materials, and supplies.
  • Prepare and oversee the fleet maintenance budget.
  • Coordinate purchases to comply with equipment and vehicle specifications.
  • Prepare and present staff reports and other necessary documents to appropriate boards and committees.
  • Coordinate response for emergency needs and ensure timely road calls and on-the-road repairs.
  • Be available and flexible to work all shifts with start times between 2 am and 4 pm, supporting a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the public or private sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Paratransit regulations, and National Transit Database (NTD).
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees and customers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the capability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Highly organized and efficient in managing tasks and responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Minimum of five years of recent experience managing a fleet of 70 buses or more.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining a qualified maintenance program.
  • Completion of Automotive Service Excellence certifications (A1-A9, H8) or equivalent manufacturer training.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Role Overview: As the Fleet Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment, ensuring that our fleet meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
