Responsibilities

  • Lead customer workshops using a design thinking approach to capture project imperatives into design requirements.
  • Develop horizontal and vertical use cases, identifying personas, journeys, and features of solutions.
  • Define and develop the architecture, roadmap, and standards for the smart building design.
  • Define and develop architecture for integration of all solution components into the customer's OT/IT ecosystem.
  • Define, with the customer, the architecture at various levels of an architecture framework.
  • Adopt and validate the architecture definition against architecture principles.
  • Utilize design patterns to promote reuse and develop emerging patterns.
  • Provide strategic advice on technologies and solutions to assist in achieving corporate goals.
  • Support scope projects, statement of work, project plan, and risk analysis.
  • Establish and maintain expertise in Johnson Control's solution offerings and develop organizational digital literacy.

What you will do

The Solutions Architect for Integrated Solutions is a generalist that has both a business mindset and technical skills across an array of technologies and domain solutions. This role will support complex Major Project opportunities and will be responsible for understanding the customer's goals and challenges and providing technical solutions through a consultative manner. This is primarily a remote position that must live in the United States with the ability to travel as needed.

The Solution Architect leads with a design thinking approach that begins with driving clarity to the mission or ethos of the project, identifying the occupant personas and KPIs, the required use cases and technology architectures required to deliver the outcomes. This role will holistically investigate the factors and interactions that leads to the outcomes to create a composite architecture that integrates all the building subsystems with the enterprise architecture to ensure efficiency in data movement throughout the environment.

The Solution Architect leads the overall design of the technology strategy, encompassing all digital and building technologies into one cohesive strategic vision to complement the development strategy. They can question the customer on their current situation, understand the goal state, and develop a defensible architecture specification specific to each customer.

The Solution Architect has the highest level of consulting and leadership skills leading from the front of the room from C-level to Enterprise Architects, Chief Data Officers (CDO), Chief Analytics Officers (CAO) and other technology and data leaders within a customer.

How you will do it:

Lead customer workshops using a design thinking approach to capture the project imperatives with conversion into design requirements.

Develops horizontal and vertical use cases - Builds the highest abstraction level of business use cases identifying the personas, journeys and features of solutions required to realize an outcome.

Define and develop the architecture, roadmap, and standards for the smart building design that will encompass the solution from data acquisition to consumption in parallel with defining the technology integrations that will feed into the design assist/build activities in the construction lifecycle.

Define and develop architecture for integration of all the solution components into the customer's OT/IT ecosystem.

Define, with the customer, the architecture at the highest levels of an architecture framework from the conceptual to logical levels of detail.

Adopts architecture principles - Adopts and validates the architecture definition against architecture principles.

Identifies and utilizes design patterns - Promotes reuse through actions and develops emerging patterns.

Provide strategic advice to account teams and customer decision makers on technologies and solutions that will assist them in achieving their corporate goals and objectives.

Provide support to scope projects, statement of work, project plan, and risk analysis.

Establish and maintain expertise in Johnson Control's solution offerings and develop the organizational digital literacy through thought leadership and knowledge sharing.

+ Knowledge of data architecture definition, lifecycle and access via API or virtualization technologies.

+ Knowledge of On-Premises and Cloud architectures with an understanding of the forces and values of each pattern.

+ Familiarity with cybersecurity and data security challenges and the impact on an architecture.

+ Exposure to industry architecture framework such as TOGAF, Zachman or FEA is a plus.

+ Data center experience is a plus.
