Role SummaryReporting to the Durability Sr. Manager, you will inspire and directly lead a talented group of engineers with responsibility for vehicle and component development as it relates to durability and longevity targets. You will maintain a high level of cross-functional interaction to ensure delivery of longer term program agnostic durability developments, working alongside other attributes, function groups and development teams with the aim of developing robust technical capabilities to support the durability roadmap. ResponsibilitiesLead a high performing team of durability development engineers, to analyze (CAE) various components and systems to improve design for durabilityOwn complex durability methods development tasks and roadmappingWork with cross functional teams to deliver robust durability solutions across all parts of the vehicleProvide technical oversight where neededGeneration of detailed component and subsystem test procedures aligned to a virtual matched pair to aid correlationCreation, management and approval of standards related to durability analysisLead ‘offline’ development studies with the aim to implement these robustly into the program cycle plan upon readinessQualificationsMinimum 8 years experience in automotive product developmentWell-rounded skillset and industry experience in FEA static and dynamic simulations for Body, Closures, Battery and Chassis systems on a component and vehicle levelExperience in balancing attribute performance when considering technical solutionsExperience in coaching less experienced team membersThorough understanding of component, system and vehicle level durability analysisThorough understanding of component, system and vehicle level durability test protocolExperience of loads generation/validation processesProven problem solverAbility to prioritise tasks in line with business/program objectivesKnowledge of design verification process is essentialStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to all levels of the businessAdvanced knowledge of CAE Analysis toolsets (ABAQUS, Nastran, Optistruct, nCode)Degree Qualified in relevant engineering, or product designProficiency with Atlassian tools (JAMA, JIRA) an assetMinimum age of 21No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 yearsNo more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 yearsMust have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicleWill be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoringPay DisclosureSalary range for California Based Applicants: $154,000-$192,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26.
