Participates with the Principal Investigator in the design of experimental protocols, interpretation of experimental results and future research directions.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.1. Carries out independent research projects.2. Has knowledge of current scientific literature and techniques to guide continual planning and execution of experiments.3. Keeps up to date with most recent developments in the field and identifies new areas of investigation and new protocols and techniques through literature searches, attending meetings, and personal communications with researchers.4. With scientific oversight, writes original manuscripts.5. Presents the results of research at local and national meetings.6. Contributes experimental data and design of future experiments for writing and renewal of grant proposals.7. Supervises, teaches, and advises lab members on protocols, experiment planning, and data analysis.8. Supervises operation and smooth functioning of the laboratory, including delegating tasks and responsibilities to lab members.9. Oversees regulatory and compliance activities for the lab.10. Reports on work in progress at regular lab meetings or departmental seminars and interprets experiment results in conference with other researchers.11. Reports scientific proceedings of meetings attended to lab members.12. Participates in collaborative research projects with other investigators, including those outside the institution.13. Performs all duties/responsibilities as assigned.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:- Advanced degree (MS, MBe, PhD/ScD/DrPH, MD, JD, PharmD, or equivalent) and strong research and publication records in bioethics, epidemiology, or clinical research.- Five or more years of experience working in the field of clinical research or pharmaceutical science.- Experience related to global clinical research, including in resource-limited settings- Prior published research and presentation in relevant areas of clinical research- Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research and analysis· Supervising and teaching lab personnel.SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:· Must possess a scientific vision commensurate with the independent execution of research projects.· Demonstrated strong analytical skills and ability to logically sequence experiments to maximize research.· Ability to contribute to original manuscripts for publication with current knowledge of the field.· Must have aptitude for technical problem solving.· High level of computer literacy.· Excellent organizational skills to ensure smooth planning and execution of projects.· Must be able to make independent, effective decisions in appropriate situations.· Ability to communicate with others for effective collaborative projects.Job Field: Technician/Technologist/ScientistOrganization: Brigham & Women's Hospital(BWH)Schedule: Full-timeShift: Day JobEmployee Status: Regular
