Responsibilities

  • Report to Engineering Manager and lead design of manufacturing equipment projects and fixturing.
  • Lead development of new and existing manufacturing cells with process and controls engineering.
  • Drive design for manufacturability.
  • Develop specifications for custom automation equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with external equipment integrators on custom automation equipment design.
  • Manage external equipment integrators from equipment development through buyoff.
  • Validate and characterize new equipment and fixtures for production implementation.
  • Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processes.
  • Lead ongoing development of equipment standards and documentation.

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience developing manufacturing equipment for new and unique products.
  • Experience transitioning equipment or fixtures from prototype to production.
  • Experience developing automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with industrial robots (FANUC, Kuka) strongly preferred.
  • PLC programming and network knowledge preferred.
  • Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment (APQP is a plus).

Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects. In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, Manufacturing Engineers work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle.
