As part of a small, hardworking, passionate, diverse, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, development, testing, and qualification of structures for New Glenn’s second stage. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.Responsibilities include:Design, analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary structuresCreate 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, installations, and interface control documentsCreate test plans, specifications, and other documentation for the development of flight hardwareProvide technical guidance for integrationProvide manufacturing and production supportSupport configuration development and trade studiesParticipate in subsystem test planning, execution, data reduction and analysisWork with cross-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce world class aerospace hardware.Develop component specifications and manage suppliersPlan, coordinate, conduct tests, and review test dataParticipate in the development and purchase of new equipment and tooling.Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical statusCoach, mentor and technically assist other engineersIdentify opportunities for improvements and operational cost savingsWe are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Required:Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical fieldAt least 8+ years industry experience in structural design and analysis of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structuresAbility to apply judgement, developed through theory and experience, to assess the appropriate level of detail required in a structural modelExperience managing and working collaboratively in small teams on fast-paced projectsHistory of developing solutions with partially defined requirements and changing criteriaProficiency in business and engineering software (i.e. MS Office, Creo, Windchill, PLM, etc)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:M.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical fieldExperience across the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design through flight)Experience with a scripting language or platform such as Matlab or PythonExperience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRAAbility to apply structural mechanics principles and development designs using hand calculations and finite element analysisDemonstrated expertise with any industry standard analysis codes: Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, LS/Dyna, Hypermesh, HypersizerExperience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10Experience with rapid development techniques for hardwareDemonstrated experience developing manufacturing processes for transition to productionKnowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality controlExperience with Optimization and DOE methods as applied to design, analysis, and testingExperience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered productsCompensation Range for:WA applicants is $136,467.00-$191,053.80Other site ranges may differApplications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.Inclusivity StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
