The Senior Buyer at Sabre Industries, Inc. is responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services, including creating take/offs from prints, obtaining quotes, negotiating contracts, and developing and maintaining suppliers' quality and delivery performance. This role takes ownership for cost, inventory levels, on-time delivery, and quality to support manufacturing operations production schedules.

  • Define and Processes PO suggestions through print and Engineering quotation review
  • Analyzes material/inventory requirements and expedites or de-expedites of material as necessary
  • Prepares, issues and reviews Request for Proposal / Quote
  • Resolves problems that arise, reviews reports, and actively interacts with Production Planning other departments to resolve any situation that may need attention
  • Manage suppliers with primary ownership for driving performance improvements in the areas of quotation lead time, documentation and product delivery on-time performance and quality as well as lead time and YOY savings initiatives
  • Achieve annual Sabre cost savings initiatives
  • Provide input pertaining to Rationalization/Consolidation of Supplier Base
  • Negotiate and administer Supply Agreements/Contracts with suppliers
  • Utilizes the ERP/MRP system to review material requirements and inventory on hand. Maintains efficient levels of stock and material coverage for job requirements while optimizing inventory levels
  • Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships aimed at achieving the highest level of performance and customer service from the suppliers as well as the lowest total cost enabling Sabre to enhance margins

Qualifications

Required

  • HS diploma with minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
  • 3-5 years recent purchasing in industrial manufacturing, job shop, ETO environment including experience using an ERP/MRP system; EPICOR preferred
  • Steel plate procurement and/or steel fabrication experience a plus
  • Ability to form internal and external alliances to achieve the company’s goals
  • Ability to negotiate and build relationships with suppliers
  • ERP/MRP experience, Epicor a plus
  • Self-motivated and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills; high level of attention to detail; professional English verbal and written communication skills; effective negotiation skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with an ERP/MRP system (Epicor a plus)

Scope of Responsibility:

Position Requirements:

  • HS diploma with minimum of 3-5 years of related experience. Associates or Bachelor’s degree given preference
  • 3-5 years recent purchasing in industrial manufacturing, job shop, ETO environment including experience using an ERP/MRP system; EPICOR preferred. ASCM and/or ISM certification desired.
  • Steel plate procurement and/or steel fabrication experience a plus.

  • Position is in an office environment and will require working on a computer most of the day. Regularly required to use hands to work on the computer, finger, handle, or grasp, reach with hands and arms.
