  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Position: Instructor/Academic Facilitator

Location: Davie-Fort Lauderdale Campus


Responsibilities:

Ensure the quality and effectiveness of all pharmacy education within the College of Pharmacy.Facilitate the academic instructional environment at the assigned campus and provide instruction and support to College of Pharmacy students as outlined by the Assistant Dean. This position is an annual, nine (9) month appointment only and therefore not eligible for a continuing contract and/or continuing appointment.


This job description outlines the responsibilities of an Instructor/Academic Facilitator

in a university setting:


1. Assist faculty and course coordinator(s) with course management:

  • Assure students have obtained information on the proper use of the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Assist faculty and course coordinator(s) with maintaining organized storage of course documents, materials, and assets within the LMS. Activities include but are not limited to importing course modules from prior versions of the course, setting up the course grade book, ensuring course navigation is correct, renaming course sections to reflect campus assignments, creating course discussion boards, etc.
  • Prompt/facilitate discussion and engagement during active learning activities as directed by faculty/course coordinator(s).
  • Provide educational material as determined by faculty and course coordinator(s)


2. Act as a liaison between the students and the respective faculty and course coordinator(s).

  • Maintain communication with regard to course content.
  • Relay comments, questions, or concerns to the faculty and course coordinator(s) on behalf of the students.
  • Participate in course-related meetings held by faculty and course coordinator(s).
  • Assure proper student conduct (e.g. dress code, professional behavior, etc.) is maintained while class is in session.
  • Ensure student problems are addressed.


3. Assist faculty and course coordinator(s) with assessment-related responsibilities:

  • Proctor course examinations.
  • Maintain integrity and security before, during, and following each exam.
  • In consultation with course coordinator(s) and faculty, enter exam items into the electronic testing platform or LMS into the appropriate section.
  • Proofread assessment items for spelling, grammar, and item quality.
  • Ensure assessments adhere to the examination blueprint, avoid overlap of content across different guest faculty, and items are written at the appropriate level of Bloom’s taxonomy according to lecture and course objective(s).
  • Meet individually with students to review graded exams.


4. Provides service to the College of Pharmacy:

  • Participate in assigned committees and complete work as assigned by the committee chair(s).
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to sanctioned student organizations.
  • Supervise students at health fairs and patient education events as needed.
  • Be familiar with the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, including the sequence and availability of courses.


5. Provide instruction in core or laboratory courses as needed. Additional duties involved in laboratory instruction may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring lab supplies are ordered on time.
  • Coordinating adjunct faculty needs.
  • Grading student performance.
  • Participating in course meetings as arranged by faculty and course coordinator(s).


6. Completes special projects as assigned.


7. Performs other duties as assigned or required.


Required Qualifications:

Education: Doctoral Degree - Must possess an appropriate advanced degree, the doctoral degree, from a regionally accredited university.
