Evergreen Safety Council is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join their team. Responsibilities

  • Daily reconciliation of cash receipts from credit card sales and student enrollment
  • Daily accounts payable, G/L account and department coding
  • Prepare weekly and monthly invoices for contracted training programs
  • Record AR deposits, collections, and assist resolving aged accounts receivable
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and assist with new employee onboarding and offboarding
  • Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including bank, merchant banking, inventory, AP, and credit cards payable
  • Responsible for month end close, preparation of financial statements and board of director reports
  • Prepare tax returns: monthly WA State B&O and annual & quarterly City B&O
  • Support annual financial statement audit and review
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures as company grows and implements new business
  • Support management with special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Prior accounting/bookkeeping experience, two years preferred
  • Associate Degree in Accounting or relevant coursework
  • Understanding and ability to apply GAAP
  • General accounting experience - accrual basis accounting, receivables, payables, capital assets, general ledger, inventories, payrolls, closing periods (month/quarter/annual), account reconciliations, preparation of third party review/audit, filing SALT and Form 990, maintain business license/renewal
  • Knowledge of NetSuite accounting system, including reporting, data management, saved searches, custom fields
  • Ability to multi-task and process high volumes of data within established time frame
  • Ability to research and resolve complex payables issues
  • Some experience with payroll, particularly automated payroll services

Preferred

  • Four year degree in Accounting
  • NetSuite scripting expertise - A/R, A/P, Customize Records, Saved Search, Workflow, CSV imports, and SuiteScript and integration
  • Zoom expertise

What we do

Our state-of-the-art safety programs include training courses for pilot car operators, wind industry transport teams, flaggers, Traffic Control Supervisors, forklift operators, and defensive driving. Although based in Western Washington, we provide learning opportunities across the country. Several of our programs have been nationally recognized and utilized across the U.S. and Canada.


How you will contribute

We are looking for a motivated accounting professional who will fill the primary role of Staff Accountant, reporting directly to the Council’s President. In this position,

you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations, monthly closing processes, and

preparation of financial statements and Board of Director management reports.


In addition to accounting duties, you will assist with the administration of employee benefits,

employee timekeeping, inventory management, contract management, and other projects as assigned by

the Council’s President.


You will be the primary NetSuite user for accounting processes, including reconciliation with other systems, reporting, tracking, approval process for bills/payments, granting permissions to other users, and data security. Our student data is also stored in NetSuite and you will be key to maintaining that data. You will build saved searches, email templates, workflows, custom record types, custom fields, maintain scripts, advanced PDF and HTML templates, and file management.


The things you will do regularly include...

  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecast for AP check run
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and assist with new employee onboarding and offboarding

  • Responsible for month end close, preparation of financial statements and board of director reports
  • Prepare tax returns: monthly WA State B&O and annual & quarterly City B&O
