Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency is seeking experienced veterinary technicians for our busy surgery department. Responsibilities

  • Facilitating client consultations
  • Maintaining daily charting/charges for emergency transfers or hospitalized patients
  • Facilitating daily surgeries from admission to discharge
  • Working side by side with 3 board-certified surgeons
  • Using advanced equipment such as CT, MRI, endoscopy, arthroscopy, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy
  • Performing and assisting in a thorough neurologic exam
  • Assisting in CT and MRI procedures
  • Using a ventilator in MRI and OR
  • Accurate record keeping of patient history, physical exam findings, diagnostic results, client communication, and treatment administration
  • Phlebotomy and proper blood handling techniques
  • Performing excellent quality diagnostic radiographs
  • Inducing and monitoring anesthesia for routine and critical patients
  • Assessing drug labels, calculation of drug dosages, and understanding of drug concentrations and constant rate infusions
  • Precise attention to ICU treatment sheets and administration of medications

Qualifications

Required

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience
  • Venipuncture
  • Peripheral intravenous catheter placement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs unassisted
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Emotionally intelligent
  • Critical thinking
  • Able to safely restrain patients for extended periods of time
  • Proficient with technology including electronic medical record systems, automated lab analyzers, digital radiology

Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency is seeking experienced veterinary technicians for our busy surgery department. Surgical Technicians are responsible for facilitating client consultations, maintaining daily charting/charges for emergency transfers or hospitalized patients, facilitating daily surgeries from admission to discharge of that patient. Requirements:
  • High school degree or equivalent

Expectations for Neurology Technicians:

  • The neurology department is seeking career-driven veterinary technicians who have a specific interest in neurology. Technicians who apply should have an innate thirst for knowledge and are constantly asking “why?”
  • Neurology is an anesthesia heavy department. As such, technicians should to be comfortable inducing, endotracheal intubation and monitoring anesthesia for routine and critical patients.
  • The Neurology department assigns roles to technicians. The roles are assigned based on experience level and individual strengths.
    • Front of house: facilitates appointments
    • Back of house:
  • Technicians will be trained in:
    • How to perform and assist in a thorough neurologic exam
    • CT and MRI
    • Use of a ventilator in MRI and OR

Additional duties, necessary knowledge and expectations include but are not limited to

  • accurate record keeping of patient history, physical exam findings, diagnostic results, client communication and treatment administration
  • phlebotomy, proper blood handling techniques and use of equipment for in house bloodwork and urinalysis
  • appropriate techniques for radiation safety and performing excellent quality diagnostic radiographs
  • appropriate techniques for inducing and monitoring anesthesia
  • proper infectious disease protocols
  • special attention to patient comfort and reduction of patient stress
  • clear, courteous communication with clients
  • proper assessment of drug labels, calculation of drug dosages and understanding of drug concentrations and constant rate infusions.
  • precise attention to ICU treatment sheets, assessment of prescribed parameters, assessment of patient wellness, and accurate administration of medications (the technician dose not just check off the box that a treatment is done, they truly assess the patient at each treatment period and make sure everything is as they expected and there are no other concerns).
  • other duties as assigned by the veterinarian and technician coordinator
