As a Mechanical Product Design Engineer at Google Cloud, you will be responsible for designing and evaluating data center systems, including designing and optimizing architectures that scale with Google's growth. This role involves leading and managing projects, developing product and process improvements, and providing consultation and training to others. Responsibilities

  • Own and design entire product design life-cycle including requirements gathering, concept generation, detailed design with analysis, verification testing, cross-functional reviews, and manufacturing release.
  • Develop and execute designs for complex systems backed by thorough engineering analysis.
  • Create test plans, perform testing, and validate designs to meet engineering requirements and troubleshoot, root cause, and resolve potential technical issues.
  • Influence the products by providing mechanical and product design engineering expertise into the technology road-map with data-driven decisions.
  • Identify and scope projects around innovation opportunities as well as technology risks.
  • Provide engineering knowledge and mentor team members.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • 1 year of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.

Preferred

  • 6 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering and design principles with specific expertise in the areas of design for medium-scale production, sheet metal and injection molding, structural and thermal analysis.
  • Experience in designing complex electro-mechanical assemblies with an understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis.
  • Knowledge of chip/socket/cooling solution stack-ups, structural behavior, and reliability.
  • Ability to architect solutions backed by business case analysis.
