The Field Service Technician at Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. is responsible for building effective working relationships with key customer contacts, coordinating and communicating day-to-day operations and projects, and monitoring online performance and incoming quality. Responsibilities

  • Build effective working relationships with key customer contacts.
  • Coordinate and communicate day to day operations and projects with customer base and appropriate Lansing personnel, including project work, developing schedules, and facilitating internal and external team meetings.
  • Monitor and track NBCi’s on-line performance and incoming quality for processing, color, and appearance criteria.
  • Effectively communicate problems, issues, and improvement opportunities to Lansing Paint Design Team, QA, Color Lab, and Production personnel.
  • Obtain information regarding build data, inventory, and usages to communicate with Account Manager and/or Supply Demand Planning representatives for effective inventory management. Essential tools-SAP.
  • Work with customer and Sales to solve pricing, credit, debit, and RGA issues
  • Responsible for implementing & tracking all value-added activities at the customer that improve the paint production process.
  • Analyze paint and process problems and use of formal problem-solving skills to determine root cause and implementation of preventative action(s). Essential tools- Action Registers.
  • Generate all reports, data, presentations, and documentation on projects and issues pertinent to the account as necessary in an effective and timely manner.
  • Coordinate and execute technical service needs of customer
  • Recommend process changes for product performance improvement
  • Coordinate sample submissions and production trials
  • Participate in facility CIA program
  • Assist in development of customer application line correlation and formula verification.
  • Communicate color adjustments completed on batches and samples to appropriate on site reps and Lansing personnel.

Qualifications

Required

  • BS degree and 4 years of industry related experience or 6 years of applicable experience in automotive paint and paint process.
  • Computer and software skills (MS Office and SAP)
  • Strong understanding of XRite
  • Communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Be able to react in a fast-paced tier environment
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Strong defect analysis skills.
  • Can visually see color & make recommendations or adjustments.
