The Medical Assistant at Atlantic Health System is responsible for assisting with the examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of a physician.   • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and hands instruments and materials to the physician as directed.
  • Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
  • Manages the medical inventory and orders medical supplies and materials.
  • Operates x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.
  • Schedules appointments, collects money for bills, keeps x-ray and other medical records, performs secretarial tasks, and completes insurance forms for patients.
  • Keys data into the computer system to maintain office and patient records.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in Physicians practice, as a Medical Assistant or relevant area.
  • Medical Assistant Certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.

Preferred

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant program.
