The Maintenance Technician at Saint-Gobain is responsible for performing a highly diversified range of duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and other facility equipment and systems. This role supports production and other company operations through regular preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and the fabrication of repair parts. The technician will work with a variety of tools and equipment, including welding, cutting, and grinding, to ensure equipment continuity and a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain production equipment and other facility equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repair of production equipment during production time.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on equipment, machines, and other systems within the facility.
  • Perform maintenance repairs including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and others appropriate to the task at hand.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, prints, diagrams, work orders, and other documents to perform needed maintenance or service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make necessary adjustments.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Properly use a variety of hand and power tools, meters, and other tools/equipment while performing duties.
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment - including Welding/Cutting/Grinding.
  • Maintains equipment, parts & supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, and anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Comply with all company policies with emphasis on those involving safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Industrial Maintenance certificate or 5+ years' experience in general industrial maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems, and PLC.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and related drawings and diagrams.
  • Computer experience - Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze non-standard situations (troubleshoot) and implement effective actions, adjustments, and/or repairs.

Preferred

  • Experience with Fanuc robotic programming and troubleshooting.
