NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is seeking a Speech Therapist for their Home Health Care team. Responsibilities

  • Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals.
  • Reassesses patient progress toward short term/long term goals and modifies the plan of care accordingly.
  • Educates patient and family regarding patient's status and plans of care. Provides home exercise program to the patient and family.
  • Completes and maintains accurate, complete and timely documentation reflecting the assessment, examination, plan of care, education, intervention and evaluation.
  • Implements and modifies appropriate interventions/treatments based on patient response and status in conjunction with the plan of care.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Current and valid NYS Speech and Language Pathology license and registration
  • 1-2 years in Hospital or medically related environment with experience in communication, cognition, communication disorders and dysphagia
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, critical thinking, and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred

  • Certification of Clinical Competence, Speech-Language Pathology

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Speech Therapist, Per Visit/ Home Health Care.

In this role, the successful candidate provides safe, therapeutic, age appropriate speech therapy to improve or restore communication and swallowing efficiency. Plans the delivery of care through examination, evaluation, planning, implementation and re-assessment of human language, voice, speech and swallowing disorders.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Evaluates and re-assesses human language, voice, speech and swallowing disorders using appropriate tests and measures; and establishes a plan of care with measurable short term/long term goals.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals.

    • Educates patient and family regarding patient's status and plans of care. Provides home exercise program to the patient and family.
    • Completes and maintains accurate, complete and timely documentation reflecting the assessment, examination, plan of care, education, intervention and evaluation according to Federal, Department of Health (DOH) and The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements.
    • Implements and modifies appropriate interventions/treatments based on patient response and status in conjunction with the plan of care.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology Required. Current and valid NYS Speech and Language Pathology license and registration Required. 1-2 years in Hospital or medically related environment with experience in communication, cognition, communication disorders and dysphagia Required. Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, critical thinking, and customer service skills Required. Basic computer skills Required..

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification of Clinical Competence, Speech-Language Pathology, preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65.00 - $75.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
