The Software Engineer Manager at Allstate Insurance Company is responsible for architecting and designing digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. Responsibilities

  • Participate in product scoping, discovery and framing, and inceptions providing technical input and helps translate user features into system design.
  • Serves as an expert on multiple business domain and a distinguished advocate of multiple technology stacks.
  • Leads collaboration and strategy alignment across product portfolios in partnership with product managers.
  • Leads the effort of shaping the architecture and design of the product.
  • Leads and participates in retrospectives; demonstrating and encouraging each participant to provide feedback with empathy.
  • Leadership - Leads employees and influences peers through change by using oneself as an example.
  • Influences direct reports, clients, service providers and peers to successfully deliver on business commitments.
  • Adapts communication approach for audiences at multiple internal and external levels.
  • Works closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
  • Serves as the anchor of the team and practices technical leadership; helping guide the team in choosing the right technology, solving technical problems, and resolving any technical conflicts within the team.

Required

  • 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
  • 7 or more years of experience (Preferred)
  • Strong technical knowledge with technologies like .Net, JAVA, SQL
  • Experience working with Global Teams
  • Experience managing a global team of 20 resources

The Software Engineer manager plans, directs, designs, and executes IT-related activities and programs that are of a complex and critical nature. The Software Engineer Manager selects, leads, counsels, motivates, sets expectations and evaluates medium to large teams.
