The Cardiac Surgery service at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to provide inpatient care on the Cardiac Surgery Intermediate Care Unit. This is a population which includes patients of all age groups from young adults through geriatrics who are undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures including: complex valvular and aortic procedures, coronary revascularization, heart transplants, lung transplants, left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation and management, and adult congenital surgery. Our providers are also credentialed to care for Heart Failure patients.

The Advance Practice Provider will provide quality care across the continuum in collaboration with a supervising physician and be expected to manage patient care autonomously within the scope of their professional practice. The provider will be responsible to perform procedures according to credentialing, provide patient/family teaching, participate in research as applicable, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe in accordance with their collaborative agreement and State regulations.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role also involves participation in the Division's Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and Unit-Based Clinical Leadership (UBCL). Opportunities for professional growth and development are available through research, lecturing, publications, and involvement with divisional and hospital projects and committees.

FTE= 0.6 (24hrs per week)

Credentials:

+ Master's prepared Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant

+ Pennsylvania licensure as an ACNP or PA-C

+ BLS and ACLS required

+ Experience in cardiac surgery preferred; critical care experience preferred.
