The Process Engineering Group Leader at Roeslein & Associates is responsible for leading the process engineering department, providing decision-making for all projects across sectors, and organizing and directing the Process Engineering team. Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and distribute process engineering tasks
  • Senior chemical engineering and process guidance for the department and on all projects.
  • Experience in chemical and process instrumentation selection and purchase.
  • Lead the way in innovative process considerations for improving process efficiencies on projects.
  • Understand and direct process simulations.
  • Responsible for reviewing Process Flow Diagrams PFD’s and Material Balances.
  • Responsible for reviewing P&ID’s: understand controls narrative, control scheme and necessary instruments.
  • Select all Materials of Construction for process equipment, mechanical equipment, and piping.
  • Review and evaluate equipment specifications, design, and technically evaluate equipment.
  • Participate in HAZOP’s (executed by others but managed by process engineer).
  • Assess compliance with applicable safety and industry codes and standards such as NFPA, API, and ASME.
  • Collaborate with client on permitting requirements.
  • Understand and define for the project emissions requirements and control technology.
  • Organize and develop the process engineering team to support start-up and commissioning activities on a project.
  • Develop understanding of animal operations, water management and process operations.
  • Work with Operations to troubleshoot and determine root causes.
  • Implement Management of Change protocols
  • Work with Process Engineering team to develop tools to monitor existing facilities operation, develop and track key metrics, optimize existing units to improve performance and reduce energy consumption.
  • Work with Environmental Product Services team to direct process engineering resources to analyze and realize maximum credit generation.
  • Develop process information for proposals for clients.
  • Collaborate with the estimating department to create and execute project estimations.
  • Work with project management to create manning schedules for assignments.
  • Travel domestically and internationally ranging from 20-30% per year.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Professional Engineering registration is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of Ten (10) years of experience in process engineering in the industry is required.
  • Previous team leadership role or management experience is required.
  • Interest in mentoring younger engineers.
  • Process simulation experience beyond a basic level is preferred.
  • Strong process knowledge of PFD’s and P&ID’s.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and start-up activities is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written is required.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required.
  • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and some weekend work may be required.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Engineering Group Leader shall provide leadership and decision making for the process engineering department on all projects in each sector (Renewables, Traditional Energy, and D&I ). The Process Engineering Group Leaderwill be responsible for organizing and directing the Process Engineering team in support of new Projects and existing Operations. The Process Engineer Group Leader will have several direct reports and be responsible to mentoring process engineers. The Process Engineering Group Leader will participate in developing process design packages for new Projects and Products. The Process Engineer Group Leaderwill provide process guidance during new project commissioning and start-up.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions are possible for short period time—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures. Must be able to travel to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
