Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and microbiology
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians (IV, SQ, Oral)
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Educate pet owners on preventive care, medication administration, and post-operative instructions
- Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery
- Handle and restrain animals with care and compassion
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and equipment
- Admitting and discharging patients
Qualifications
Required
- Completion of a two-year or four-year American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program from a community college, college, or university
- Minimum two years experience working in a veterinary practice as a registered veterinary technician or experienced assistant
Preferred
- License certification

Responsibilities include nursing tasks, medication administration, client education, IV catheter placement, venipuncture, laboratory duties, radiology, and anesthesia. Some emergency-care knowledge, including CPR, is essential.
