The Fabrication Technician at Piasecki Aircraft Corporation is responsible for the fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of aircraft structures and related systems. This role involves interpreting technical documents, fabricating and installing prototype equipment on rotorcraft, and performing sheet metal repairs among other duties. Responsibilities

  • Fabricates, assembles, and installs prototype equipment on rotorcraft for use in production and research/development
  • Interprets military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blue prints
  • Installs prototype equipment on aircraft and make modifications to the existing airframe to accommodate installations
  • Coordinates with project engineer personnel throughout the project providing technical assistance to project engineers, contractors, ad factory representatives, etc.
  • Performs sheet metal repairs to a variety of rotorcraft, possess an in-depth knowledge of sheet metal materials and repair techniques
  • Works with various thickness of aluminum, steel alloys, stainless steel, copper, brass and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals in the fabrication of production metal parts for aircraft modifications
  • Operates tools and equipment associated with sheet metal shop operation such as protractors, calipers, gauges, crimping tools/machines, forming machines, lathes, milling machines, saws, drilling presses, gas and heli-arc welding machine
  • Understand and interprets blueprints , schematics and rudimentary drawings
  • The Fabrication Technician may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma / Equivalent
  • Ability to understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up
  • Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions
  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. overhead, on feet all day, walk up to 2 miles per day

Preferred

  • Computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs
  • Working knowledge of advanced software applications

SUMMARY:

The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Fabrication Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of aircraft structures and related systems based on drawings, specifications, manuals, Engineering Releases, Drawing Change Notices and Technical Standard Orders, etc. Reports to Project Engineer or Program Manager for taskings.
