Qualifications

Required

  • 5-8+ years of CONTROLS SW development experience.
  • Direct experience with manufacturing controls software at the plant floor end of the system.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working/expert knowledge of version control, working with Git, Agile Scrum.
  • Experience with implementing IIoT solutions using technologies like MQTT, JSON messaging, OPC UA.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of Mfg 4.0 (Industry 4.0) key principles – data collection, AI, machine learning, IIoT, Networking and Controls architectures including reading/editing.
  • Engineering Documents Knowledge and experience with Ford IT Systems.
  • Desire to learn and switch between programming languages.
  • Web application code development experience (HTML5, CSS, etc.).

Job Title: Controls Software Engineer

Location: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid)

Duration: Long term contract on W2


Position Description:

Provide a strong skillset and background in controls code and manufacturing controls application development and solutions for Focused Projects and Defined Priorities including IIOT and Manufacturing 4.0 initiatives. Lead projects supporting manufacturing (VO & PMTE) leveraging advanced technologies, supporting MTDC initiatives, delivering key capabilities as required, primarily in the controls software development space. Lead projects to implement new automation systems for production lines, including PLC programming, HMI development, and data integration. Collaborate with cross functional teams (MFG, PD, R&A, Suppliers) to deliver planned project deliverables. Benchmark new advanced technologies and develop supplier partnerships to benefit future state applications. Teach/Coach/Mentor less experienced peers and document technical knowledge for training and solution documentation. Ensure the identification of lessons learned and their application to subsequent systems. Interface with the Manufacturing Operations to understand their technical challenges and opportunities.


Skills Required:

Fully working/expert knowledge of using SCL Siemens Coding Language, years of experience applied to development (not solely maintenance or line support using these tools)

Working/expert knowledge of Siemens TIA, WinCC Unified, Siemens Edge Management Strong project management and organizational skills

Skills Preferred:

Highly motivated self-starter with drive to develop code from scratch, guided by a template architecture.

Ability to think “outside the box” to generate feasible and beneficial solutions to tackle complex problems.

Ability to generate new ideas to improve upon existing (legacy/traditional) processes within Manufacturing

Proficient with Microsoft Office products Looking for ability to stand on own in Agile Based Scrum Development Environment


Experience Required:
