Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose repairs on heavy duty vehicles (e.g., brake chamber, glad hands, tire and/or rim, battery, air/coolant hose)
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Prepare work orders and order parts
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Maintain good communication with supervisors and/or co-workers and drivers
• Performs thorough, accurate Diagnostic and Preventative Maintenance inspections
• Follows schedules to complete all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation
• Performs unscheduled maintenance as needed
• Performs complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests
• Utilizes a ladder and other elevation equipment to access the roof of tractors and containers and elevated light fixtures for repairs and maintenance
• Operates CDL and Non-CDL vehicles tractors and straight trucks to perform road tests, as well as shuttle in and out of the garage for repairs and maintenance
• Lifts heavy equipment (up to 100lbs) including brake drums, tires, ladders, tool chests, floor jacks, etc. when necessary
• Documents repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately
• Must be thoroughly familiar with all safety provisions associated with vehicle maintenance and understand OSHA standards and provisions

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Preferred

• Associate degree or completion of a diesel service technician training program
