POSITION TITLE: Day Porter (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

STATUS: NON-EXEMPT/FULL TIME

MISSION STATEMENT:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

+ High school diploma or relevant qualification required.

+ At least one year of janitorial or maintenance experience preferred

+ Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends

+ Familiarity with common cleaning supplies and hand tools

+ Prior work experience with cleaning and disinfecting work surfaces

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

+ Ability to work without direct supervision

+ At least one year of janitorial or maintenance experience preferred

+ Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends

+ Must participate in The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Lead Janitor, the Day Porter is responsible for making sure all buildings look professional, clean, presentable and inviting at all times between routine cleaning and maintenance activities. The Day Porter will be responsible for cleaning common areas like kitchens, cafeterias and patios. The Day Porter will also perform other duties such as room setups, furniture moving, and other duties at the direction of the Janitorial Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Maintain property and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.

+ General cleaning of the building and keeping it maintained and in good condition.

+ Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.

+ Cleaning and stock restrooms.

+ Ensure doors are locked after hours.

+ Clean up spills with appropriate equipment.

+ Perform minor repairs.

+ Notify supervisors or managers of major repairs.

+ Collect and dispose of trash.

+ Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

+ Keep cleaning supplies in stock.

+ Other duties such as room setups and furniture moving.

+ Perform all other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
