\n**Job Purpose/Overview**
\n
\nThe Research Associate will be assigned to one or more research projects aimed at the further development of the Company's product assays on our proprietary platform. The projects range from initial research to product development and can involve substantial interdisciplinary activity and collaboration. The Research Associate will participate in experiment planning, execution, and data analysis in a biologic laboratory.
\n
\n**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
\n
\n+ Completes lab work and assays/experiments utilizing standard lab equipment, following standard operating procedures
\n
\n+ Performs process development, assay development, product testing and optimization of diagnostic tests.
\n
\n+ Performs testing of assays.
\n
\n+ Participates in initial data analysis, records, and communicates findings.
\n
\n+ Handle and utilize lab equipment as required and must be comfortable working in a lab.
\n
\n+ Ensures compliance with established business policies and regulatory requirements.
\n
\n+ Use problem solving skills
\n
\n+ Handle biohazardous materials in accordance with Company and FDA regulations.
\n
\n**Education and Experience**
\n
\n+ Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or similar field; prior experience with standard laboratory equipment, conducting experiments and following protocols.
\n
\n**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
\n
\n+ Functional knowledge of chemistry and biology principles applicable to the diagnostic industry.
\n
\n+ Good analytical and documentation skills.
\n
\n+ Working knowledge of statistical methods and techniques.
\n
\n+ Experienced with MS Office
\n
\n+ Data analysis software/programming language preferred (e.g., Graphpad Prism, R, Python).
\n
\n+ Experience working in Biosafety level 2 laboratory preferred.
\n
\n+ Well-organized and a collaborative team player, able to demonstrate ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
\n
\n+ Excellent communication skills (verbal/written/presentation).
\n
\n+ Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
\n
\n**Working Conditions**
\n
\nThe associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch.
\n
\nWork will be performed in both an office and a laboratory environment. Office setting will involve sitting and standing, lifting up to 10 pounds, utilizing phone and computer equipment. LightDeck laboratories handle biohazards and potentially infectious, human-derived samples such as blood products. Laboratory personnel will be trained to work in Biosafety Level 2 laboratory settings and are required to follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements. Lab process equipment may include analyzing and testing tools and the usage of chemicals and reagents. Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds.

\nThe Target Pay for this position is $29.00 hourly. At Mars, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
