The Product Development Intern at Golden State Foods will conduct product development tasks as assigned, including completing mock product presentations to PD and sales staff.   • Weigh and prepare various sauces, salad dressings, sandwich spreads, shake and smoothie syrups, etc. as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of all tests (viscosity, brix, water activity, yields, for any product produced
  • Work with Corporate Chef as available on internal customer presentations.
  • Work with PD mentor to research, ideate, develop a product for a mock customer including support materials (potential menu gap analysis, menu placement ideas, etc) then give an oral and visual presentation to PD and Sales

Qualifications

Required

  • Must have completed at least one year of college with a focus toward food science, manufacturing, culinary arts or a similar emphasis
  • Strong interest in understanding food processing and the process of product development involved with the manufacturing of liquid sauces and dressing type products
  • Basic PC word processing/ spreadsheet software knowledge
  • Basic Food Preparation Techniques/Safe Food Handling GMP's knowledge
  • Basic Research Skills
  • Creativity and Passion to make food better
  • Basic Presentation Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with mentor verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read, process and follow written direction with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service
