Qualifications

Required

  • Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
  • CPR certification required based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
  • Automobile insurance.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Driver's License.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement.

Preferred

  • B.S.N.
  • 1 year previous specialized home health experience.
  • 1 year clinical experience involving infusion therapy, including patient assessment skills, and venous access skills.
  • PICC training.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

UPMC Chartwell is looking for a casual Infusion Nurse to join their dedicated Ambulatory Infusion Team

The Infusion Nurse coordinates and performs skilled nursing care for patients in the home setting. Participates in teaching patients and significant others home medical management; and provides leadership by working cooperatively with staff to establish priorities and goals of patient care.

This is a casual role working between the hours of 7:30 am and 8 pm, by appointment. Weekend coverage by appointment as well.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Provide pre-discharge patient assessments when appropriate.

+ Participate in the orientation of other nurses or center personnel, as requested.

+ Demonstrate reliability and follow-through on all assigned tasks.

+ Communicate to supervisor, physicians and other health care providers, as appropriate, any changes in the patient's condition.

+ Utilize appropriate communication lines in relaying problems, concerns, questions, and ideas.

+ Demonstrate ability to work effectively and maintain expected productivity.

+ Infusion specialty medication in the home which includes placing venous access, compounding of medication in the home due to short stability, monitoring vitals and any adverse reactions throughout the infusion and 30 minutes post infusion. Home lab draws as ordered.

+ Refilling Medtronic intrathecal pumps.

+ Maintain competency of pumps to include but not limited to the CADD Solis, Sapphire pump, Freedom pump, kangaroo and infinity enteral pumps. Provide patient education for administration of medication. Catheter care, and competency prior to admission to service. Ensuring at risk patients meet the requirement to safely care for themselves in the home. Completing and updating nursing plan of cares. Sending documentation to physician offices to meet compliance and payer requirements.

+ Diploma from an accredited school of nursing required.

+ 1 year previous specialized home health experience preferred.

+ 1 year clinical experience involving infusion therapy, including patient assessment skills, and venous access skills.

+ CPR certification required.

+ PICC training preferred.

+ Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.

+ Ability to assume a flexible work schedule. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
