Responsibilities

  • Represent insurance companies in state and federal courts throughout New England and across the nation.
  • Evaluate claims and determine the appropriate strategy, whether it be a negotiated settlement or vigorous defense through trial.
  • Handle pre-litigation coverage disputes.
  • Counsel clients on best practices to avoid bad faith exposure.
  • Present insurer clients on the most complex coverage issues.
  • Represent individuals, owners, contractors, employers, doctors, nurses, hospitals, property managers, restaurants, hotels, and businesses in a wide range of disputes in state and federal court and through the mediation process.
  • Represent various licensed professionals in connection with Board complaints and other licensure-related proceedings.

Qualifications

Required

  • JD from accredited law school
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Active MA bar admission or ability to obtain admission quickly
  • 2-5 years of litigation experience
  • Knowledge in employment counseling experience and/or insurance coverage
  • Outstanding research, writing, and analytic skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to organization and excellence
  • Ability to multitask and work independently within a collaborative team setting

Preferred

  • Experience in insurance coverage or bad faith claims handling
  • Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, and/or Rhode Island bar admissions

Peabody & Arnold seeks an associate to join our insurance coverage and general litigation groups. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of litigation, medical malpractice defense, management-side employment defense, personal injury defense, premises liability defense, insurance defense and/or insurance coverage experience. Experience in insurance coverage or bad faith claims handling matters are a plus. Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, and/or Rhode Island bar admissions are also a plus.


Our insurance coverage practice group represents insurance companies in state and federal courts throughout New England and across the nation. We, in partnership with our clients, evaluate claims and determine the appropriate strategy, whether it be a negotiated settlement or vigorous defense through trial. We regularly handle pre-litigation coverage disputes and counsel clients on best practices to avoid bad faith exposure. From class actions to multi-district litigation, we present our insurer clients on the most complex coverage issues.
