Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably within a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
  • Experience with recreational activities including creative arts, music therapy, etc., preferred.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Google, CANVA, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
  • Reliable, with a proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all ADRC recreational programs. This individual will ensure that all programs align with the organization's mission and meet the needs of our community. The Program Manager will work closely with the Director of Programs, Education, and Training, staff, volunteers, and community partners to enhance the effectiveness and reach of our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of all ADRC programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and efficacy. This includes Art, Music, Equine, Memory Cafes, & Life-enrichment Activities – Museums, Movement, Yoga, and ADRC’s Annual Art Expression program and Art Exhibition.
  • Program Development: Identify opportunities and develop new programs to address the needs of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease across Long Island, ensuring these initiatives align with ADRC's mission and strategic goals.
  • Staff Supervision: Manage program consultants including hiring, training, supervising, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Budgeting: Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director, ensuring programs are financially sustainable.
  • Community Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and other organizations to enhance program reach and impact.
  • Data Management: Collect, analyze, and report on program data to assess effectiveness and inform future programming.
  • Marketing & social media: Develop fliers and brochures to promote programs and reach new audiences. Utilize social media and community engagement to attract new clients.
  • Advocacy: Represent ADRC at community meetings, events, and in advocacy efforts related to Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning process, helping to set the direction and priorities for ADRC’s programs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably within a nonprofit or healthcare setting or working with seniors. Relevant experience may substitute for years of experience.
  • Background in recreational activities including creative arts, music therapy etc. preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and management abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Google, CANVA, and social media platforms.
    • Experience with relationship management and building partnerships.
    • Reliable, with a proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
    • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
  • Personal Qualities: Passionate about the mission of ADRC, empathetic, organized, and a strategic thinker.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require occasional evening or weekend hours.
  • Regular travel within Long Island is required, and candidates must have a reliable vehicle. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
  • Frequent interaction with individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, requiring sensitivity, empathy, and patience.
  • This is a 35 Hr. Non-Exempt Status position (East Islip, NY). The schedule is Monday- Friday 9am - 4pm. Must be available to work additional shifts & a flexible schedule as needed. The pay rate for this position is $26 an hour.
