The Maintenance Technician at Golden West Packaging Group is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all converting and corrugating equipment parts systems, components, and related products. Responsibilities

  • Work safely and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform all tasks instructed by supervisor in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area. Adhere to company Good Manufacturing Policy (GMP) and other company policies.
  • Safely work around and with the machine according to posted Safety requirements.
  • Lift/carry raw materials, production supplies, and final product up to 50 lbs.
  • Visually inspect machinery for safety and quality control points.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all converting and corrugating equipment parts systems, components, and related products.
  • Parallel all rolls, make all required settings and adjustments for optimum equipment performance.
  • Maintain the machinery to run at maximum capacity and speed.
  • Prioritize and address all safety work orders immediately.
  • Identify any preventative measures required to improve machine functionality and report to Maintenance Manager.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly, correctly, and in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Follow up all work orders and ensure repairs are effective.
  • Enter job information in the computer as needed.
  • Help other team members with their jobs to meet goals after primary job duties are completed.

Qualifications

Required

  • At least three years of corrugated manufacturing industry experience.
  • Knowledge of operations processes and mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and test parameters.
  • Experience with shop welding shop equipment.
  • Functional understanding of PLC Programming, programmable controllers, A/C and D/C drive and their control systems.
  • Ability to manage and resolve problems involving one or more variables.
  • Forklift operation certification or the ability to complete forklift certification.
  • At least one year of safe and accident free forklift driving experience.
  • Strong math skills.
  • High School level proficiency in English or the capability of using English as a second language.
  • Strong technology and computer skills.

Maintenance Technician

  • Safely work around and with the machine according to posted Safety requirements including but not limited to Lock Out Tag Out, Personal Protective Equipment, and other machine specific safety requirements.

  • Lift/carry raw materials, production supplies, and final product up to 50 lbs.

  • Visually inspect machinery for safety and quality control points.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all converting and corrugating equipment parts systems, components, and related products according to posted Safety requirements.

  • Parallel all rolls, make all required settings and adjustments for optimum equipment performance to manufacture quality products. After performing maintenance to any piece of equipment, return the equipment to the safe operational condition.

  • Maintain the machinery to run at maximum capacity and speed.

  • Prioritize and address all safety work orders immediately.

  • Identify any preventative measures required to improve machine functionality and report to Maintenance Manager.

  • Complete all paperwork neatly, correctly, and in accordance with Company guidelines.

  • Follow up all work orders and ensure repairs are effective.

  • As needed, enter job information in the computer.

  • After primary job duties are completed, help other team members with their jobs to meet goals.

Key Competencies: The person in this position must possess and/or demonstrate the following:

  • At least three years of corrugated manufacturing industry experience including knowledge of operations processes and mechanical maintenance experience. including ability to:

  • Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters. Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints and test parameters.

  • Ability to use common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, and testing equipment.

  • Experience with shop welding shop equipment in order to perform PM and assembly or break down.

  • Functional understanding of PLC Programming, programmable controllers, A/C and D/C drive and their control systems, hydraulic motor controls, gear boxes, and bearings.

  • Ability to manage and resolve problems involving one or more variables on a tight timeline.

  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. Understanding of equipment specifications and product quality specifications and standards.

  • Forklift operation certification (or the ability to complete forklift certification.)

  • At least one year of safe and accident free forklift driving experience including knowledge of lifting loads with a bale pack and any other best practices.

  • Strong math skills. Ability to apply concepts of high school math. Calculate figures and amounts such as measurements in increments of 1/16 of inch, percentages, volume, rates, and totals. Ability to read and calculate measurements using a tape measure with speed and accuracy.

  • High School level proficiency in English, or the capability of using English as a second language at a similar level of proficiency, (reading, writing, and comprehension) in order to understand operational and safety requirements of the machine, posted safety signage, production order information, and efficiently communicate safety needs to other employees when needed.

  • Strong technology and computer skills. Ability and willingness to learn and navigate in different computer systems to achieve goals.

  • High attention to detail. Desire to ensure quality work product. Experience identifying errors and proactively resolving errors.

  • Ability to use and apply common sense and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more variables.

  • Ability to work together in a team that ensures accurate and timely execution, work product, and achievement of goals.

  • Strong work ethic, respectful communication and strong personal motivation skills. Has a positive attitude, is energetic, committed, and well organized.
