The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers and system engineers, designing systems/software applications for scalable, configurable, reliable, secure, and well-integrated with build and deploy tools.This role will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our technologies and ensuring that our systems meet the needs of our airline customers. You will also be responsible for the performance of the software architecture, integration and for ensuring that the software meets the quality standards of the company and industry. You will lead team to brainstorming and gather requirements; develop strategies for end-to-end process improvement of performance and quality; In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of the software architecture meets Boeing Cyber and Network Security requirements.We work in a casual but professional environment with multi-disciplined teams of engineers that take pride in developing, integrating, testing and delivering innovative solutions. There is long-term potential for career growth into technical leadership or management positions and we value the curiosity, tenacity and imagination our engineers bring to our teams each day.This position requires 10% travel.Position Responsibilities:Design, document, and communicate the software architecture to various stakeholders, including developers, QA, ops, etc.Work with other architects, engineers, and product managers to ensure that the architecture is properly implemented and integratedEvaluate new technologies and approaches to see if they can be used to improve the architecture or the development processLead trade studies and be able to make justifiable decisions based on those trade-offs.Set the technical goal and strategy for delivering on requirements of high scale, reliability, performance, and development velocityLead a team of software engineers and mentor others to perform software engineering work statement.Lead the design and development of the company's ground, cloud, and airborne software applicationEnsure the selected technology architecture is aligned with the company's business goalsThis position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science9+ years’ experience in software development, with at least 3 years in software leadership role5+ years’ of experience in software architecture role for cloud-based, or airborne systemsExperience in multiple programming languages, including Java, C++, and PythonExperience leading Agile software development teamsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Have one of the following technical experiences:Linux base OS (such as Ubuntu, Yocto).Cyber securityNetworking programming (such as 5G, WIFI, Bluetooth)Design and deploy software development tool kit (SDK)Master’s degree in computer science or related fieldExperience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS and AzureExperience with DevOps tools and processesExperience in the DO-178C (or equivalent) lifecycle is a plusTypical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
