ABOUT US: Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events as well as facilities, parks and open spaces! Our Bravo Music Academy is home to five renovated music instruction rooms.
JOB SUMMARY: As a voice instructor, you will have the opportunity to inspire and guide students of varying ages and skill levels in the art of singing. Our voice instructors teach fundamental vocal techniques including breath support, pitch control, and articulation while introducing students to a variety of musical genres and repertoire. You will be responsible for designing engaging and effective lesson plans tailored to each student's needs, fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment, and helping students develop their vocal technique, repertoire, and performance skills while maintaining an emphasis on healthy singing. Voice instructors are also responsible for communicating effectively with students and parents regarding lesson scheduling, goals, and expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Prior teaching experience and a bachelor’s degree in music is highly desirable. Strong vocal technique and proficiency in various musical styles is required. Piano proficiency is recommended. Our music instructors must be reliable, punctual and organized leaders. They should be effective communicators and teachers who interact with students and their coworkers in a way that is positive, encouraging, and supportive. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a part-time year-round position. The schedule will vary depending on instructor’s availability and student enrollment (average 5-15 hours per week in the evenings). Hourly pay range starts at $22/hour DOQ (depending on qualifications) and class type.
