The Facilities Maintenance Technician at Propelled Brands is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 17 - 20 MY SALON Suite locations in the Maryland district. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks/updates on assigned locations each month to follow the established PM program.
  • Perform daily service requests as scheduled to keep locations operational.
  • Diagnose and make recommendations on repairs and maintenance of HVAC units and Water Heater equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate repair needs to preferred vendor(s) when appropriate.
  • Conduct business in a professional manner when communicating with Area/District Managers and suite members.
  • Perform miscellaneous repairs to upkeep locations as needed.
  • Refer member requests to Area/District Managers vs taking requests directly from members.
  • Respond to maintenance calls according to the facilities management standard using the facilities management Software program.
  • Diagnose and service all locations maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Make recommendations for cost efficient repairs/replacement of equipment.
  • Update all service tickets in SuiteForce to document all repairs for completion.
  • Ensure all tickets, check lists, etc. are filled out with detailed explanation of work completed.
  • Ensure all expenses are allocated to the appropriate area/districts and expenses are approved to stay within budgets.
  • Ensure Emburse is submitted in a timely manner with detailed notes.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma, Trade School, and/or HVAC training
  • 5 years maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience in Apartment maintenance, Commercial maintenance, HVAC contractor or Retail maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC (Filter Changes, basic troubleshooting of HVAC)
  • CFC certification preferred
  • Valid Driver's License

Position Summary/Objective
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the efficient and effective maintenance and repair of 17 - 20 MY SALON Suite locations in the Maryland district, ensuring a safe, functional, and pleasant environment for employees and customers. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing urgent repair needs, and contributing to the overall upkeep of the facilities. The Facilities Maintenance Technician works closely with other maintenance staff and reports to the Facilities Project Manager.

Essential Functions
Preventative Maintenance:
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks / updates on assigned locations each month to follow the established PM program.
  • Perform daily service requests as scheduled (weekly/monthly) to keep locations operational. (ie: electrical, plumbing, handyman services, locks, minor furniture repairs or replacement, lighting, and suite prep/ paint.) All repairs that do not require master certification to repair major components of HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
  • Diagnose and make recommendations on repairs and maintenance of HVAC units and Water Heater equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate repair needs to preferred vendor(s) when appropriate.
  • Conduct business in a professional manner when communicating with Area/District Managers and suite members.
  • Perform miscellaneous repairs to upkeep locations as needed.
  • Refer member requests to Area/District Managers vs taking requests directly from members.

General Maintenance:
  • Respond to maintenance calls according to the facilities management standard using the facilities management Software program.
  • Diagnose and service all locations maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Make recommendations for cost efficient repairs/replacement of equipment.

Outside Vendors/Suppliers:
  • Utilize approved vendors/suppliers to ensure best pricing.
    • Assist in sourcing third party vendors for service and parts.
  • Assist with follow up and inspecting vendor repairs and assure satisfactory completion. Provide feedback or update to inform the Project Manager of the status.

Transportation / Tools / Inventory:
  • Create and establish suggested stock to maintain locations for the shampoo bowl parts, light bulbs and salon furniture parts to reduce down time. Assist Project Manager to ensure correct inventory of core locks for suite doors, for each location.
  • Yearly assist Project Manager to maintain physical inventory of all furniture and stock in all locations.
  • Ability to provide ones own transportation and travel on a daily basis.
  • Ability to provide ones own tools.

Training / Ongoing Learning:
  • Stay up to date and utilize resources around the latest trends in repair and maintenance.
  • Assist in the development of new processes and procedures.
  • Complete training assignments as directed by the company.
  • Communicate accurate information to members of MY SALON Suite.

Other Functions:
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Ability to be on call and work non-traditional hours in order to facilitate timely repairs.
  • Ability to attend meetings as required.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships.
  • Ability to share, store, and maintain information on company shared drive.
  • Must be proficient with PC , Google, Excel and Word

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

  • Must be able to walk, stand, crawl, stoop, kneel, push, pull, reach, and maintain balance for sustained periods of time, while climbing ladders, maneuvering around, and in small work areas in order to perform repairs.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 150 pounds in order to move large items such as desks, furniture and washing machines.
  • Must have the manual dexterity to control delicate repairs in cramped areas around high voltage, gas appliances, freon and other potential hazards.
  • Must be able to shout/hear warnings or cautions in order to maintain a safe working environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, Exempt position of at least 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma, Trade School, and/or HVAC training
  • 5 years maintenance experience preferred.
    • Apartment maintenance, Commercial maintenance, HVAC contractor or Retail maintenance.
  • HVAC - Basic knowledge preferred (Filter Changes, basic troubleshooting of HVAC.
  • CFC certified preferred
    • Type I or II

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Valid Drivers License Required

Required Core Competencies
  • Must possess basic math skills to perform cost calculations, measurements to assist in management of maintenance budget.
  • Must have strong human relations skills, including the ability to maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Must be able to read and understand memos/emails/work orders evaluating appropriate actions.
  • Must be able to independently plan and perform a wide variety of simple to complex work assignments based on an understanding of goals and objectives.
