  • Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • Four years of full-time professional social work experience
  • Two years of experience in a health care setting OR equivalent education/experience
  • Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

**$5,000 Sign-On Bonus to eligible new employees joining UW Medicine** **Harborview Medical Center - Social Work** has an outstanding opportunity for a Social Work Supervisor within the **Inpatient Medical Surgical Units.** .

**WORK SCHEDULE**
- 40 hours per week
- Day Shift

**POSITION HIGHLIGHTS**
This position will provide supervision of and provision of direct social work services to patients of all ages and their families on the inpatient medical surgical, ICU, acute care and Rehab floors. Implement the full range of social work clinical procedures for patients ranging from infancy through adulthood. Social work interventions may include:
- Crisis intervention, including locating legal next of kin
- Social work assessment including evaluation of psychosocial needs
- Complex discharge planning
- Child abuse and vulnerable population intervention and referral
- Domestic violence intervention and referral
- Trauma or Grief intervention and referral
- Mental Health and Chemical Dependency resource coordination

**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**
- Provide leadership to the Social work and assigned service teams, contribute to effective team functioning and provide support to clinic staff as needed
- Documentation and verbal communication of social work activities provided to patients and their families or support system, requiring knowledge of legal intervention options and processes, and of community resources that are relevant to the population
- Interventions with patients and their families and those in their support system. Knowledge of discharge planning; knowledge of physiological components of illnesses, basic medical terminology and procedures that are performed in the service areas, knowledge of and implementation of social work policies and procedures
- Teach and model being an essential member of an interdisciplinary team, attend team rounds or meetings, respond to requests for social work intervention, demonstrate professional competence, maintain a positive working relationship, consult on legal, systems and resource issues, and negotiate clinical tasks
- Provide clinical services with respect for patient/family rights and within the Social Work Code of Ethics
- Demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of community resources available for patients upon discharge from the HMC

**REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:**
