The Software Engineer - Controls at zobility will focus on accelerating the use of automation in the simulation and software development processes to enhance development and testing efficiency. Responsibilities

  • Accelerate the use of automation in the simulation and software development processes.
  • Work with software, controls, and simulation teams to understand their software development and virtual testing workflow.
  • Develop desktop and cloud solutions to increase speed and robustness of the embedded control software build, simulation, and test pipeline.
  • Propagate software automation throughout the controls community.
  • Lead team to develop software and scripts to automate the build environment, simulation environment, and to verify and validate the embedded vehicle control software.
  • Create web-based tools and standard dashboards to share simulation and software build and test status information with development teams.
  • Develop state-of-the-art cloud-based solutions for simulation and software build and test, utilizing High Performance Compute and cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with the IT, Software, and Data teams to research and roll out process, methods and tools associated with software simulation, build and test initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow experience, including academic experience.
  • 3+ years programming background (Python, C, C++, Java, or Matlab m-script).
  • 3+ years of version control and automation (ClearCase, AccuRev, GitHub, Jenkins) experience.
  • 1+ years usage of cloud-based tools (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Master's degree in engineering or computer science.

Preferred

  • Experience in automotive controls or systems engineering.
  • Experience in embedded controls in electrified vehicle systems, driver assist technologies.
  • Experience in requirements definition, decomposition, design verification.
  • Experience with hands-on software testing and problem solving in simulation, hardware in the loop systems, and prototype vehicles.
  • Broad understanding of embedded control system design and analysis techniques.
  • Experience with tools for Virtualization environment tools (Docker, Vagrant), Deployment tools (Habitat, Chef), Containerization (Kubernetes), Automation (Jenkins).
  • Significant experience with Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow.
  • Significant experience utilizing models to develop and verify mixed hardware & embedded software systems.
  • Experience with CAN networks and tools (CANalyzer, CANape, ATI Vision, etc.).
  • PhD. degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Automotive / Computer Engineering or Controls related field.

  • The engineer will work with a variety of software, controls, and simulation teams to understand their workflow of software development and virtual testing; then the engineer will develop desktop and cloud solutions to increase speed and robustness of the embedded control software build, simulation, and test pipeline.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed to successfully propagate software automation throughout the controls community, creating a culture where each engineer uses these methods as part of their daily workflow.
  • Lead team to develop software and scripts to automate the build environment, simulation environment, and to verify and validate the embedded vehicle control software.
