The Materials Manager at Interroll Corp is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, storage control, and distribution of materials and products according to the company’s needs and customer requirements. Responsibilities

  • Oversee all activities related to the procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery.
  • Prepare work instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
  • Analyze requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date needed.
  • Ensure the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships for high-quality products and services at competitive prices.
  • Negotiate with vendors for best possible price and service guarantee.
  • Follow environmental and safety regulations and U.S. laws.
  • Comply with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
  • Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices; review contracts for conformance to company standards.
  • Assign procurement requests to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare required reports and provide detailed analysis of purchased goods.
  • Act as a liaison with manufacturing, engineering, and other departments on scheduling, production, methods, materials, and designs.
  • Monitor and report inventory levels by category monthly and on SON quarterly.
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials.
  • Assign duties and monitor quality of work; ensure staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and supervise receiving and warehousing procedures.
  • Oversee the distribution of supplies in the organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 3 years related experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret and negotiate contracts.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information such as financial reports and legal documents.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of SAP MM.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:

This position oversees the planning, procurement, storage control, and distribution of materials and products according to the company’s needs and customer requirements. Manages and coordinates all aspects of the procurement of materials and/or services; and oversees activities and operations of the purchasing and Inventory departments and staff.



ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The employee must perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities the supervisor requests. Job duties may change as required by the needs of the company.

  1. Responsible for all purchasing, inventory control, and MRP functions. Oversee all activities related to the procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase; through the delivery of the commodity. Prepare work instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
  2. Analyze the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date the commodity is needed.
  3. Assure that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
  4. Develop and maintain supplier relationships that provide high-quality products and services at a competitive price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  5. Negotiate with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
  6. Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with U.S. laws.
  7. Compliance with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
  8. Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  9. Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices. Review purchase orders claims and contracts for conformance to company standards.
  10. Assign procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
  11. Prepares required reports; provides detailed analysis of purchased goods.
  12. Advise team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
  13. Acts as a liaison with manufacturing, engineering, and other departments on matters about schedules, production, methods, materials, and designs to resolve day-to-day problems.
  14. Assist manufacturing in planning load levels in terms of units and manpower.
  15. Monitor and report inventory levels by category (Raw, WIP, F/G) monthly; Monitor and report on SON (Slow Moving, Obsolete, Non-Moving) inventory on a quarterly basis.
  16. Arrange for disposal of surplus materials
  17. Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
  18. Keeps up to date on the overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
  19. Coordinate and supervise receiving and warehousing procedures.
  20. Oversee the distribution of supplies in the organization
  21. Control inventory levels and ensure the availability of material during emergencies.
  22. All other duties as assigned.
