Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain networks to meet the Defense Department's evolving needs.
  • Upgrade or develop enterprise-wide infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
  • Analyze working infrastructures to enhance security, reliability, and availability.
  • Leverage expertise in routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, and virtual routing and forwarding.
  • Optimize client operations and modernization using knowledge of cryptographic equipment, cryptography, key management, software and hardware firewalls, Cisco hardware, Palo Alto firewalls, cloud migration, optical infrastructure networking, virtual routing and forwarding, and SolarWinds.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on mission-critical projects using technical curiosity and knowledge of industry standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1+ years of experience with network or system administration
  • Experience with Linux, including maintaining CENTOS, RedHat or RHEL, or SUSE
  • Experience maintaining VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machines (VMs)
  • Ability to maintain software development infrastructure supporting multiple environments and networks in a fast-paced and highly technical environment
  • Ability to take initiative and make recommendations on existing infrastructures
  • Ability to be a self-starter
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • HS diploma or GED

Preferred

  • Experience deploying and administering a RHEL Satellite server
  • Experience maintaining Network Appliance (Netapp) storage arrays or technologies
  • Experience maintaining a Windows 7 or Windows 10 desktop environment, and maintaining a Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy environment
  • Experience with Oracle Hardware and Solaris OS, including x86 and SPARC
  • Experience facilitating or implementing Information Security Best Practices, including security compliance initiatives such as patching, IAVA remediation, and POA & M development
  • Experience maintaining and administering Cisco networking switches
  • Experience maintaining network cabling infrastructure, including copper and fiber cabling
  • Experience with Splunk logging and NESSUS vulnerability scanning
  • Experience with Kanban or Agile methodologies, and project management applications such as Jira or Redmine
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

The Opportunity:

A well-designed network is critical to move data and enable organizations to achieve their missions, but how can an organization make sure their network will fit their evolving needs? Crafting the right network, with the right equipment and sof tware, requires a combination of te chn ical skill and careful planning. That's why we need you, an experienced network engineer who knows how to develop the exact network the DoD needs.

As a network engineer on our team, you'll use your experience in network design and architecture, system interoperability, OSI model, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, and virtual routing and forwarding to support the nation's defense and resp ond to evolving adversaries. You'll upgrade or develop enterprise-wide infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, analyze working infrastructures, and increase security, reliability, and availability for mission-critical network systems.

You'll apply your expertise in routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, and virtual routing and forwarding as you join our team of problem-solvers to help the DoD evolve and deploy new capabilities and te chn ologies.

Your knowledge of network protocols, equipment, emerging te chn ology, and configurations will come in handy as you optimize client operations and modernization. Using your experience in cryptographic equipment, cryptography, key management, sof tware and hardware firewalls, Cisco hardware, Palo Alto firewalls, cloud migration, optical infrastructure networking, virtual routing and forwarding, and SolarWinds, you'll serve as a t rus ted advisor to clients on mission-critical projects. Using your te chn ical curiosity and knowledge of industry standards, you'll make an impact on national security missions.

You Have:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
