We are seeking an Assistant Controller or Controller for an operation in the Goshen/Elkhart area. The role is integral to our finance and operations team, focusing on income statement control, cost accounting, and analytics for various business units. Responsibilities

  • Prepare consolidated internal plant financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from various departments.
  • Analyze information within the financial statements and complete schedules that support account balances.
  • Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts; reclassifying account balances.
  • Prepare various expense accruals and supporting schedules.
  • Reconcile monthly activity in fixed asset accounts and compile documents to support asset balances. Verify lives and methods are accurate and assets are capitalized in accordance with company capitalization policies.
  • Support plant leadership by answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Handle the monthly close process, prepare real-time and predictive results for evaluation and planning.
  • Assist in periodic physical inventories, generally involving pre-inventory prep, variance support, and posting of final physical inventory figures.
  • Ensure material costs and inventory values are accurate and that the system is tracking costs properly.
  • Demonstrate leadership amongst peers and receive positive feedback from the accounting and operation groups.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read professional publications to gain advanced industry knowledge; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
  • Strive for continuous process improvement.
  • Provide both tangible and intangible savings for the Company.
  • Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Management Accountant role or Plant Accounting role
  • Proficiency in Cost Accounting
  • Experience in Annual Inventory
  • Familiarity with Fixed Asset Inventory
  • Ability to conduct Inventory Audits
  • Knowledge of the Sarbanes Oxley Act and its implementation
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is desired
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and budget reports
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently when required
