The MRI Technologist at Penn Medicine is responsible for performing routine MRI examinations and assisting Radiologists with diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities

  • Operate 3T and 1.5TGE scanners, 2(1.5) Siemens Scanners, SMS-RMS/InvisiN workstations.
  • Prepare magnet room, maintain cleanliness of area.
  • Interview and screen patients for metal and contraindicated biological devices prior to the examination, explain procedures to the patient.
  • Assist changing patients into dressing gowns.
  • Monitor patients in scan room during examination.
  • Read all staff notices; attend section and quarterly meetings; keep abreast of all changes within the Department.
  • Communicate equipment problems and image quality issues.
  • Advise all concerned in the proper procedures for various studies done in the section.
  • Stock supplies and maintain equipment as needed.
  • Maintains and provides annual registry certification from ARRT and CPR within expiration date.
  • Serve as liaison with referring physicians and patients to assist in scheduling exams; expedite patient studies as needed.
  • Obtain consent forms as needed.
  • Document and maintain annual mandatory in-services.
  • Inject contrast agents for indicated exams.
  • Schedule patients, page hospital personnel.
  • Answer telephones and respond to requests for information and reports.
  • Occasionally transport patients

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology
  • 1+ years Radiology or related experience
  • American Registry Radiologic Technologist certification
  • MRI certification from ARRT within one year of hire date

Credentials:

+ Amer Registry Radiologic Tech (Required)

+ MRI certification from ARRT within one year of hire date required.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

+ H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

+ Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology1+ years Radiology or related experience
