The Director of Warehouse Operations at a 100+ year old, privately held, two-billion-dollar retailer and distributor of equipment, supplies, and materials servicing primarily the restaurant and retail industries, manages and directs all aspects of warehousing and related activities including P&L budgeting, and KPI and employee management.   • Maintaining a sound plan of policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession
  • Developing and installing procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization
  • Maintaining an active relationship with other functional areas to assure that the organization is providing appropriate service levels
  • Implementing and follow up of KPI (Key Performance Indicators), guaranteeing flawless execution, and drive operational excellence
  • Managing operational schedules and coordinating shipping activities to ensure production and quality of accuracy meets specifications
  • Reviewing shipment and operating reports; resolving operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Directing Managers on major rollouts to assure timely execution
  • Managing the Centralized Logistics Department to include but not limited to freight quoting, problem solving, freight auditing (internal and external), claims processing, drop ship processing, shipped not invoiced monitoring, and international shipping coordination
  • Directing a proactive tracking system
  • Overseeing freight routings for all shipping locations
  • Pulling, processing, and/or reviewing daily reports as necessary
  • Implementing policies, procedures, and strategic plans that align with department and corporate goals
  • Developing and maintaining SOP’s for the Warehouse and Logistics department
  • Overseeing full truck scheduling to reduce cost and improve service
  • Improving the collection, reporting, and distribution of shipping data
  • Coordinates, with Human Resources, all aspects of employee relations including employee interviewing, hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplinary action, complaints, scheduling, training, and development, etc.
  • Reliable attendance is a must

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in a warehousing/ distribution environment
  • Experience in transportation management, pick-up and delivery, dray, etc.
  • Experience implementing and managing key performance indicators throughout operations and holding management and employees accountable for performance metrics
  • Solid financial, analytical and P&L experience
  • Familiarity with Lean techniques and continuous improvement models
  • Experience with warehouse management and transportation management systems (WMS/TMS/YMS)
  • Food service equipment experience a plus
