  • Engage service provider to ensure data backups are successful.
  • Work directly with disaster recovery coordinator reviewing and enhancing existing DR procedures.
  • Actively participate in DR operations / testing.
  • Analyze, diagnose, debug, and resolve moderate to complex issues within the Valvoline server/cloud environment.
  • Independently install, configure, upgrade, and maintain various hypervisors, including Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual review of audit and compliance controls.
  • Mentor and assist with developing junior level resources.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of technical experience
  • 2+ years of cloud - AWS experience
  • Experience in a large global corporate environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge working within a Windows-based environment
  • Some networking knowledge to support cloud environment
  • AWS or MS Certifications
  • Experience working with SQL

Preferred

  • Extensive experience provisioning services within AWS Public Cloud
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting and providing solutions to issues across various platforms
  • Extensive security and network experience
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Experience leading infrastructure and/or system administration projects
  • Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with SQL

Full Job Description

Role: AWS Cloud Engineer

Location: Northern Kentucky area

Contract: 12 months plus extension. Conversion possible after 6-12 months.

Hours: 8 am to 5 pm CST

Office: Fully Remote

Payrate: $45-52/hr

Job Overview:

The Sr. Cloud Engineer will be able to work independently, providing support for the company's server infrastructure area, with a focus on Public Cloud offerings. Responsible for ensuring all servers and services are maintained according to the company's requirements, focusing on availability and security. Responsible for performing Audit and Compliance activities in a timely manner. Responsible for mentoring and developing junior level resources.


Work Experience: 4+years of technical experience, 2+ years of cloud - AWS

  • Experience in a large global corporate environment preferred

  • Some networking knowledge to support cloud environment

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to independently install, configure, upgrade, and maintain various operating systems - specifically Microsoft Windows Server - some Linux . Ensure all servers are maintained and patched according to set policy.
  • Architect and deploy various services (e.g., deploy a virtual machine, databases, infrastructure as code, etc.) into our Public Cloud environment. Work with service provider(s) to ensure systems and services are deployed per company standards.
  • Engage service provider to ensure data backups are successful and completed within expected window. Work directly with disaster recovery (DR) coordinator reviewing and enhancing existing DR procedures. Actively participate in DR operations / testing.
  • Ability to analyze, diagnose, debug, and resolve moderate to complex issues within the Valvoline server/cloud environment.
  • Ability to independently install, configure, upgrade, and maintain various hypervisors, including, but not limited to, Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual review of audit and compliance controls as it relates to area of responsibility. Remediate issues discovered during review process.
  • Mentor and assist with developing junior level resources.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by company from time to time in its sole discretion.


Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

Extensive experience provisioning various services within AWS Public Cloud.

  • Extensive experience troubleshooting and providing solutions to issues across various platforms.
  • Extensive experience leveraging ticket management solutions (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Extensive security and network experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to install and troubleshoot issues related to MS Windows server environments.
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Experience leading infrastructure and/or system administration projects.
  • Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.
  • This role requires individuals to work within the demands a global 24x7, high availability, transaction-oriented team.
  • Experience with SQL is a plus.
