The Pro Cable Designer at Actalent is responsible for the design and drafting of both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment. This includes designing wiring harnesses, performing layout drawing and checking of schematic diagrams, making wiring diagrams, and overall line replaceable unit (LRU) chassis and housing design/drafting. The role involves selecting LRU/wiring harness components and producing schematic diagrams and/or CAD drawings for LRU/wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and draft both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Design wiring harnesses.
  • Perform layout drawing and checking of schematic diagrams as supplied in rough form by electrical engineering.
  • Make wiring diagrams from schematic diagrams (vice-versa).
  • Perform overall line replaceable unit (LRU) chassis and housing design/drafting, including overall system packaging.
  • Select LRU/wiring harness components such as electrical connectors, electrical accessories, wire, shielding, shield terminators, terminal lugs, etc.
  • Produce schematic diagrams and/or CAD drawings for submission to customers, plant, operations or outside vendors to produce the specified LRU/wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Ensure output can be entered directly into data management configuration control.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 5+ years designing cables/wire harness
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience utilizing Creo-Pro Cable
  • AAS or BS degree
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering and electro-mechanical engineering tools
