The Maintenance Technician - Wastewater at Veolia North America performs a variety of highly skilled work in the maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment facility, pump stations, and portions of the sanitary sewer collection system. Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair of all equipment at the 1.7 MGD advanced wastewater treatment plant, 5 pump stations and sanitary collection system.
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment using hand tools and power tools.
  • Maintain, repair, troubleshoot PLC's, electrical and instrument controls of Veolia Water Princeton Meadows systems.
  • Make recommendations on equipment upgrades and order equipment as directed.
  • Coordinates between multiple projects to ensure process operations quality is maintained.
  • Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves.
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs, maintain logs and computer tracking in KloudGin.
  • Scheduling and prioritizing of corrective maintenance work.
  • Maintains chemical tanks and pumping systems.
  • Determines need and feasibility of major repairs on individual pieces of equipment; consults with supervisor to recommend repair or replacement of equipment.
  • Schedules preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled down time.
  • Inspect all vendor/contractor maintenance services to assure repairs are performed to contractual agreements.
  • Creates SOP's for new equipment as needed.
  • Maintains inventory (spare parts, maintenance supplies, ...)

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3-5 years of experience repairing and installing equipment in wastewater treatment and sanitary sewer collection systems
  • Good working knowledge of computers and software
  • Ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to navigate KloudGin to schedule, assign, and navigate work orders
  • Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize and make decisions on job site
  • Ability to schedule parts and materials for projects and schedule jobs
  • Ability to direct helpers, assistants, or new hires (crews)
  • Problem Solving (operational, equipment, plumbing, instrumentation, electrical)
  • Ability to diagnose sewage treatment plant pump system malfunctions and determine appropriate procedures to repair those malfunctions
  • Technical knowledge of wastewater treatment plants and pump stations
  • Professional judgment required to apply the proper course of action under various circumstances
  • Computer applications as they relate to area assigned
  • Must be able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours

Preferred

  • S-1 and C-1 license preferred or must obtain within 2 years of hire
  • Valid NJ Driver's License

**Position Purpose:**

Performs a variety of highly skilled work in the maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment facility, pump stations and portions of the sanitary sewer collection system. Performs work with considerable independence in all types of climates, and is responsible for the inspection, adjustment, installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of all equipment and structures associated with the wastewater treatment facility.

**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**

+ Perform maintenance and repair of all equipment at the 1.7 MGD advanced wastewater treatment plant, 5 pump stations and sanitary collection system (such as clarifiers, aeration tanks, sewage and sludge pumps, chemical feed pumps).

+ Repair and lubricate machines and equipment using hand tools and power tools.

+ Maintain, repair, troubleshoot PLC's, electrical and instrument controls of Veolia Water Princeton Meadows systems.

+ Make recommendations on equipment upgrades and order equipment as directed.

+ Coordinates between multiple projects to ensure process operations quality is maintained.

+ Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves.

+ Establish preventive maintenance programs, maintain logs and computer tracking in KloudGin.

+ Scheduling and prioritizing of corrective maintenance work.

+ Collect process tank samples and perform laboratory analyses as assigned.

+ Serves on emergency duty, however, he/she may be called upon to resolve operational problems, which may arise at any time (the incumbent must be a member of the Veolia Princeton Meadows emergency callout rotation team).

+ Must be able to work extended hours as needed.

When serving on emergency duty, the employee responsibilities also include:

+ Notify appropriate personnel as needed.

+ Investigate and remediate emergency situations such as power failure, high level alarms.

+ Investigate and evaluate customer complaints related to odors or sewage backups, etc.

+ Perform operator duties as needed.

+ Complete all assigned work orders.

**Qualifications**

**Education/Experience/Background:**

+ High School Diploma/GED is required.

+ Demonstrated ability to choose an appropriate course of action within limits set by standard practices and procedures.

+ Technical knowledge of wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.

+ Professional judgment required to apply the proper course of action under various circumstances.

+ Computer applications as they relate to area assigned.

+ Must be able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours.

**Required Certification/Licenses/Training:**
