Responsibilities

  • Collect detailed field notes and photographs of site conditions and findings.
  • Prepare chain-of-custody documents for analytical testing, recording survey data on approved forms completely and legibly.
  • Compile and organize data for report. Present data and make recommendations to upper-level staff.
  • Prepare reports or portions of reports detailing survey/project information.
  • Use standard and specialized equipment for sample collection and analysis.
  • Calibrate instruments, use equipment in the field, download data, clean and maintain equipment.
  • Implement Atlas’ health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Drive a company vehicle or rental vehicles – valid Driver’s License
  • Travel locally and regionally to project sites as required.
  • Work night and weekend shifts as needed, up to 20%.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering fields (preferred) or high school diploma/bachelor's degree in unrelated field and additional relevant experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Valid driver’s license, must meet qualifications to successfully complete Drug-Alcohol Testing.
  • Ability to travel within the Tri-State Area (NY, NJ, CT and Eastern PA) up to 100%.
  • Ability to wear a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able/willing to conduct asbestos/lead/mold remediation monitoring projects, asbestos/lead/mold surveys, and/or exposure monitoring and specialized industrial hygiene projects, hazardous material testing, groundwater monitoring well installation/testing, soil borings and sampling, stormwater discharge monitoring, underground storage tank compliance.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft OfficeΔ applications
  • Technical/report writing skills are preferred

Preferred

  • OHST/ACIH/ASP/GIT certification
  • State licenses in the disciplines of asbestos, lead, radon, and/or mold
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER/ 30-Hour OSHA Construction certification

We are seeking an Industrial Hygiene Technician to join our Bethpage, NY team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Under supervision, conduct environmental, indoor air quality and other hazardous materials surveys.
  • Collect detailed field notes and photographs of site conditions and findings.
  • Prepare chain-of-custody documents for analytical testing, recording survey data on approved forms completely and legibly.
  • Ability to compose detailed sample location maps.
  • Compile and organize data for report. Present data and make recommendations to upper-level staff on recommendations.
  • Prepare reports or portions of reports detailing survey/project information.
  • After training, use standard and specialized equipment, such as hand tools for collection of building material samples, high volume and low volume pumps, rotometer, XRF analyzer, moisture meter, mold pump, infrared camera, IAQ meter, peristaltic pumps, photo-ionization detector, low-flow groundwater stabilization pumps, and/or others.
  • After training, ability to calibrate instruments, use equipment in the field, download data, clean and maintain equipment.
  • Implement Atlas’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Approval to drive a company vehicle or rental vehicles – valid Driver’s License
  • Travel locally and regionally to project sites as required.

Compensation:

$20 - $30 hourly

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
