Insight Global is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join one of our aerospace and defense customers in Indianapolis. Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with the development and testing of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs meet standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with other engineers and designers to ensure integration and functionality of mechanical systems.
  • Pick out parts, research vendors, create drawings, and come up with designs looking at specs and how they integrate parts.
  • Help lead different projects.
  • Be self-sufficient and a problem solver.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4-10 years mechanical design experience or 2+ years DOD background
  • Background in aerospace, DOD, automotive, or medical device
  • Design experience with CREO, CAD, SolidWorks, CATIA or any other related tool
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM
  • Familiarity with creating engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of GD&T

Preferred

  • Master’s in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • System Integration experience or integration onto a vehicle
  • Product Design experience in metallics, sheet metal parts, machine parts, etc.
  • DOD or Aerospace experience

Full Job Description

Title: Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN – 6125 E 21st St

Schedule: Onsite – 3-5 days per week. Prefer 5 but can be flexible to 3-4 days on hybrid schedule

Duration: 6 month contract to permanent hire - the role will go permanent!

Pay Rate: $40-70/hr DOE


Must Haves:

  • 4-10 years mechanical design experience or 2+ years DOD background
  • Background in aerospace, DOD, automotive, or medical device

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in creating mechanical designs using CREO or CAD programs. You will be leading and assisting with the development and testing prototypes of mechanical systems. Other responsibilities include ensuring that all mechanical designs meet standards and regulations. We are looking for candidates who have great communication with other engineers and designers to ensure that all mechanical systems are integrated and functioning properly.


The immediate project the Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will require picking out parts, researching vendors, creating drawings, coming up with designs looking at specs and how they integrate parts, etc. This candidate is expected to be able to help lead different projects, and to be self sufficient and a problem solver with good communication skills.
