The Chemical Analyst/R&D Chemist at Addison Group will join a team providing support in Petroleum Analytical Testing and R&D support in the Pilot Plant. Responsibilities

  • Maintain logbooks and data well organized.
  • Achieve expected performance through problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate and document troubleshooting findings to supervisors.
  • Perform daily duties with minimum supervision.
  • Maintain good organizational skills for daily log sheets and test results.
  • Manage a broad scope of activities including conducting experiments, participating effectively in a team environment, and managing multiple tasks.
  • Effectively interact with customers, peers, plant personnel, R&D and Run-Engineers.
  • Extract, evaluate data, and make sound technical decisions based on effective communication, troubleshooting, networking, and computer skills.

Qualifications

Required

  • BS in Chemistry or related field with 5 to 10 years of experience in Petroleum testing or related fields.
  • Prior experience in Analytical Chemistry and R&D Projects.
  • Experience with Distillation Procedures, UV-spectroscopy, ICP-OES, Wet Chemistry, Simulated Distillation, Gas-Chromatography, TGA among others.
  • Technical proficiency in utilizing Scientific Methodology to solve problems.
  • Ability to manage a broad scope of activities including conducting experiments, participating effectively in a team environment, and managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, peers, plant personnel, R&D and Run-Engineers.
  • Effective communication, troubleshooting, networking, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work safely, participate in safety programs, and utilize PPE as required.
  • Demonstrate a good performance record of on time and no unexcused absences.
  • Conform to good housekeeping practices for all job assignments.
  • Be available for reasonable amounts of overtime and weekends.
  • Respond to emergency calls when needed.

Preferred

  • Additional experience with rheology properties understanding and ion chromatography.

Title: Chemical Analyst/R&D Chemist

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000

Location: Metro Trenton, New Jersey


The Chemical Analytical Department Team is seeking a Chemical Analyst/R&D Chemist with 5 to 10 years of experience to join a team of Analysts that provide support to internal and external clients in Petroleum Analytical Testing and assisting with R&D support in our Pilot Plant. The candidate will execute current analytical testing in addition to developing and implementing new analytical methods. The candidate will learn key areas of analytical chemistry and may perform some research activities that will enhance our analytical testing capabilities and Petroleum Technology expertise. The analytical department plays a critical role in all areas of our company such as R&D, analytical method development and technology commercialization among others. The Chemical Analyst is expected to be able to lift 50 Lbs. and change gas cylinders periodically as part of their routine duties.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical expertise and problem solving in support of our Analytical and R&D departments.
  • Utilize existing ASTM analytical methods to measure critical parameters in various petroleum derived products.

  • Problem-Solving skills are very important to achieve expected performance in this position.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment troubleshooting such as calibration issues, gas leaks and thermocouple problems
  • To communicate and document troubleshooting findings to supervisors.
  • To perform daily duties with minimum supervision.
  • The candidate must have good organizational skills for daily log sheets and test results must be kept in an organized manner.

  • BS in Chemistry or related field with 5 to 10 years of experience in Petroleum testing or related fields.
