Responsibilities

  • Participate in weekly Production/Safety meetings with department personnel.
  • Regular availability to address issues immediately as they arise, including during off-hours.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in selection, evaluation, and installation of capital and expense projects.
  • Evaluate performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and setting an example of superior behavior.
  • Follow up on all work orders to ensure repairs and work are performed properly.

Qualifications

  • Four years maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant

Full Job Description

STS Packaging, a Schwarz Partners, L.P. Joint Venture company is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor in Charlotte, NC. The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Supervisorwill coordinate, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment with minimal downtime. Involves checking, setting up, and operating various types of production tools and equipment prior to approving for production use.This position also helps manage personnel, plan and directs the operation of the department in a safe, hazard free work environment, in a cost-effective manner, with continuous support to plant leadership.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION
  • Directly supervise all employees as assigned to the department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Includes training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Report to Maintenance Manager (or the Plant manager in their absence) any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known and make recommendations to minimize downtime and expenses.
  • Monitor warranties and service guarantees. Notify personnel of impending expiration dates.
  • Conduct, in conjunction with parts room clerk and/or maintenance personnel, selective inventory monthly and verify with computerized inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
  • Work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to locate O.E.M. manufacturers and after-market distributors in order to obtain competitive costs on parts or improved service.
  • Establish high morale throughout your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.
  • Initiate and/or maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program utilizing the MVP system.
  • Responsible for coordinating and implementing the overall maintenance program under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, which includes ensuring that equipment is on the preventive maintenance program and that schedules are valid, thorough, and completed according to the system schedule.
  • Support the maintenance department role of the overall SQF program.
  • Participate in weekly Production/Safety meetings with department personnel.
  • Regular availability to address issues immediately as they arise, including during off-hours.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program and good housekeeping.
  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, assist in selection, evaluation, and installation of capital and expense projects.

  • Demonstrate ability to teach maintenance classification, qualification requirements and proper maintenance procedures.
  • Follow up on all work orders to ensure repairs and work are performed properly.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
  • Communicates daily with the Maintenance Manager and Human Resources Department regarding the various needs of the Maintenance department including scheduling or personnel problems that may have significant effects on operations.
  • Adheres to all safety policies, including always wearing required PPE, and sets an example to others for model safety behavior
  • Conform to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures and policies to assure products are suitable for food contact
  • Responsible for reporting any product quality or food safety issues to the Quality Manager (SQF Practitioner) or Management Team member
  • Additional duties as assigned.
