John Deere Construction Equipment Dealership with multiple locations serving Southern California, Nevada and Idaho is looking for a Branch Sales Manager to join our team in Long Beach, CA.

Title: Sales Manager

Reports to: Branch Manager

Job Overview:

Manages assigned sales functions for the entire branch, with emphasis on the defined processes, while coaching and developing the sales professionals. Responsible for sales performance metrics within the branch. Hires, retains, and effectively engages department personnel. An advocate for all services provided by Coastline Equipment with employees and customers, including Parts, Service, and Rental.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages and coaches sales professionals to implement sales processes and whole goods strategy within Area of Responsibility
  • Travels with outside sales personnel weekly to assess performance and to foster customer relationships
  • Creates development plans for sales professionals which includes individual training needs for both product and selling skills. As part of this, new salespeople are required to achieve Deere Level 1 certification within 12 months from date of hire and Level 2 within 36 months. Existing salespeople will have schedules in place if certification has not been completed
  • Conducts monthly one-on-one evaluations with sales staff reviewing daily/weekly/monthly duties. Examples include call scheduling/delinquent calls, Power Sales, JDU (NMQ's and Sales Certification process), participation and PC analysis
  • Conducts biannual one-on-one evaluations with the focus on Branch and Company goals including volume, unit sales, market share, program participation and business plan bogeys.
  • Holds branch sales meetings with staff and management monthly, or every other month, to discuss market conditions, competition, the effectiveness of internal programs and to provide training on products and processes as needed. Shares best practices within the Branch as well as company-wide
  • Follows a consistent sales process that drives optimal financial, market and customer performance as directed by management. Ensures these are followed by all salespeople
  • Works with Parts Managers, Service Managers, Dispatchers and the Corporate Used Equipment Manager to ensure a best-in-class customer experience
  • Responsible for recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for direct reports under the direction of the Branch Manager and corporate recruiting
  • Monitor inventory and ensure proper levels as directed by Corporate.

Education and/or Experience and Skills Required
  • Ability to teach and coach sales professionals on selling techniques and processes
  • Capacity to be an internal resource for sales staff in all areas:
  • Product - Deere, Allied and competitive
  • Financing - installment contracts, leases, RPO's, etc. offered through Deere or others
  • Deere and Internal marketing programs
  • Computer applications - Handle (CRM), JDQuote2, Foresight, Market Share, etc.
  • Sales processes as outlined in the Sales Department policy manual
  • Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  • Post high school education preferred

  • Dotted line reporting relationship with the Corporate Sales Director.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to drive and travel in a vehicle.

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 ( The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position, and individual salary will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience) This position is also eligible for quarterly Sales incentives and annual bonus.
